Yeonggwang Bridge

Lighting for Yeonggwang Bridge, a landmark in Baeksu-eup, Yeonggwang, Korea. Thirty GRIVEN floodlights reveal the structure of the pylons and cables and give the bridge a distinctive nightscape.

Overview

Yeonggwang Bridge is a landmark whose structural beauty is brought out by night-time lighting. Gravissystem supplied 30 floodlights from the Italian manufacturer GRIVEN, and installation was completed in 2017.

Lighting design

The brief had two parts: highlight the structure, and create a night-time experience of the bridge for people crossing it or looking at it. Floodlights follow the pylons and cables so the form of the bridge reads from a distance.
